Me-day.

I finally had some time to myself on yesterday. Some of the girls in our group traveled to Nice, so the group was a little disintegrated. It was nice to have some to myself, though.

I decided to visit the canals at St. Martin. The concept of the canal running through the city and people enjoying conversations, games, laughter, reading, lunch, and relaxation is wonderful. It was nice, but not so much alone. Dodging creepers while getting there was also a real struggle. But overall, another exemplary epitome of why I love Parisian culture so much - people genuinely taking time to sit down and enjoy each other.

I also got the chance to dine at the Les Deux Magots where Hemingway and Picasso used to dine. It was quaint and nice. The sun was beating and I enjoyed a glass of wine so I'm sure my Asian glow looked ridiculous. The menu was a little pricey but I made do with my red win and ham sandwich. The waiter was incredibly courteous and respectful. I had a little water on the corner of my table and he eagerly apologized, cleaned it up, and got a new table set for me. I sat down and wrote some more postcards for friends. Then the wine started to hit me so I decided it would be a good time to head home. I paid for my meal and the waiter suggested I come back tomorrow (funny) and complimented that I was beautiful. I mean, I'd love to come back. If it was one the house.

I tried gelato on the way back home. The cream was incredibly subtle but wholesome with flavor. I got caramel and cafe. Both were milky, creamy, filling, but the taste was tipped with a curve of flavor towards the end, once you swallowed. It was pretty good. Then I went home, took a nap, and went to another cafe where I filled out my coffee log and discovered a mass army of roller-bladers rolling by, like the Boston Marathon for wheelers. Fast skaters, slow skaters, young, old, working, just-learning, you name it. Made my night. I think the even is called Pari Roller, a weekly skating event that covers some 18 miles. Nothing I've ever seen before.

Unreal, cool.
